Today I picked up an old South Bend 9" lathe for the workshop.
My Dad's been a machinist for most of his life, so he highly recommended South Bend as one of the best. I found a local one for sale that needs a little TLC (the back gear* has been stripped and it needs a clean up) but is apparently (according to Dad) in excellent condition with minimal wear.
Now I'll have to find a spot for it to live in the shop.
Next on the shopping list: a milling machine.

* I'm no expert on these machines by any means, so I only learned what a back gear was 2 nights ago :$
